Overview
CUS Bakersfield was founded in 1970 as the 19th member of the public California State University system. As an educational system, the California State University network has been particularly accommodating to nontraditional and older students, and CSU Bakersfield is no exception. The school has expanded its Extended University Division to include five online programs, including a bachelor's degree program, master's options, and an accelerated nursing degree RN-BSN program.
Student Appeal
For students looking for a quality education on a budget, CSU Bakersfield can be a great option. California state university's tuition fees are well under $10,000 a year, and they are even lower than a comparison average of other public universities. This is exceptionally affordable for an accredited higher education. The CSU system is also known for its emphasis on teaching rather than research, meaning that students get the bulk of faculty members' attention.
Accreditation
CSU Bakersfield has regional accreditation through the Senior College Commission of the Western Associate of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
