Cochise College

Overview
Founded in 1964 as one of the first community colleges in Arizona, Cochise College has grown steadily since then, offering a number of transferrable associate's degrees, certificates, and valuable professional training. As part of its mission to better serve students' professional goals, the college now offers 10 fully online associate's degrees and three certificates. These offerings range from liberal arts degrees in the humanities and sciences, to business degrees and career-focused IT training.

Student Appeal
If small class sizes and personal attention are important to you, then Cochise is a great bet. The college also boasts a very multicultural student body, as about 40% of enrolled students are of Hispanic or Latino background. Furthermore, adult learners will like the focus on students who are going back to school to get ahead; the average age of the Cochise student is 28.

Associate's Degrees
  • AA-AnthropologyAA-Anthropology
    Designed for university transfer, this associate's program provides a strong core of liberal arts and science, as well as more specialized anthropology courses. Students complete a language requirement and take classes in society and culture and the antiquity of humankind.
  • AA-EconomicsAA-Economics
    Math, business, and statistics courses make up the core of classes in the economics associate's degree. Arts, technological literacy, composition, and English are also required.
  • AA-General RequirementsAA-General Requirements
    This degree is a solid option for students who aren't sure what they would like to major in at the university level. It allows students to take general education courses in math, English, social studies, and natural science, for transfer to a 4-year college.
  • AA-GeographyAA-Geography
    If you'd like to study geopolitical issues, this degree could be a good fit. It also includes the standard core of liberal arts and science requirements of the AA degree.
  • AA-HumanitiesAA-Humanities
    Humanities students hone their critical thinking and problem solving abilities, by gaining greater understanding of human culture and history. Students round out their knowledge with courses in math, natural science, behavioral sciences, composition, and more.
  • AA-SociologyAA-Sociology
    This program includes courses like Social Problems, Marriage and Family, and Ethnic Groups and Minorities. Graduates are prepared to learn more about the social structures and interactions that govern society.
  • AAS-Intelligence OperationsAAS-Intelligence Operations
    This degree is career preparation for positions that require knowledge of military operations, intelligence and counterintelligence, and history. Students take 21 credits of general requirements and 23-25 credits in intelligence operations areas.
  • ABUS-Business AdministrationABUS-Business Administration
    Designed to be transferred to a four-year college, this degree touches on business communications, quantitative analysis, financial accounting, managerial accounting, and more. Courses in composition, English, and math support the business core.
  • ABUS-Computer Information SystemsABUS-Computer Information Systems
    Those interested in the business applications of software and information systems can pursue this program. Students learn about computer programming, systems analysis, economics, and more.
  • AGS-Associate of General Studies DegreeAGS-Associate of General Studies Degree
    This degree requires students to take courses in composition, laboratory science, English, math, arts, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and technological literacy. The degree is designed for university transfer.
