Overview
Originally founded in 1978, the Court Reporting Institute has since grown to become one of the largest court reporting colleges in the United States. In 2006, the school launched the online Associate of Applied Science degree in Court Reporting that mirrored the actual classroom program, featuring a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities conducted 100% over the Internet, delivered through a suitable online platform to provide outstanding court reporting education to people across the nation.

Student Appeal
Because the school has only two online programs, it is able to dedicate 100% of its time, energy, and resources to providing the finest court reporting training possible. Students can obtain a CRI degree after 10 courses in 10 quarters or less. Admissions coordinators are available to help prospective students explore the many career paths in court reporting, understand the curricula and school schedules, determine if court reporting is right for them, and help guide them through the admissions process.

    Designed to prepare students to become Certified Shorthand Reporters, this program aims to develop a solid foundation in legal and medical terminologies, anatomy, psychology, speech, courtroom and deposition procedures, and transcription via computer, with an additional goal of improving their machine shorthand speed to 225 words a minute and typing speed to 50 net words per minute. Graduates of this program often seek employment as official court reporters, freelance/deposition reporters, or captioners.
