Online degrees are just as respected as traditional degrees earned on campus. Georgia Tech is considered a good school because it offers high-quality, accredited programs.

Accreditation refers to the process by which a third-party organization examines a school's programs, faculty, and services to ensure they meet the country's rigorous national education standards. Georgia Tech is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctorate degrees, and certificates.

Georgia Tech is best known for its computer and engineering schools. The College of Computing comprises five schools, with over 100 faculty members teaching nearly 20 programs. Online students can study Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Computer Science, where they can choose from four specializations while studying 100% online.

There are eight schools within Georgia Tech's College of Engineering, where over 18,245 students were enrolled in Fall 2022. Millions of dollars are devoted to these engineering schools for research purposes. Students can take aerospace, applied systems, electrical, computer, mechanical, and industrial engineering programs — all of which are available 100% online. 

As one of the most well-known computing schools in the country, it's no surprise to learn that Georgia Tech's highest earning degree programs fall within the field of computer science. The U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard shows a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science earns students approximately $110,000 three years after graduation. The Master of Science in Computer Science is available online for students at the graduate level. 

The school's second highest earning degree is the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Students can expect to earn around $97,000 three years after they graduate. Although it's also available on campus, students can take the Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering completely online. 

Students interested in research, particularly in the fields of computer science and engineering, will find Georgia Tech to be worthwhile. More than $1 billion was devoted to the school's research efforts in 2021, resulting in breakthroughs in biomedicine and sustainability.

The employment outcome for graduates of schools within the Georgia University System, which includes Georgia Tech, are above the national average. A U.S. Census study from 2022 found that baccalaureate degree holders from Georgia Tech earned $62,495 just one year after graduation. That number increases to $66,392 for engineering graduates and $75,501 for computer and information technology graduates.

According to College Scorecard data, Georgia Tech has a much lower acceptance rate than most four-year universities in the country at just 21%. Therefore, students may have some difficulty getting accepted into one of its programs. The likelihood of acceptance depends on the program a student is applying for. Graduates programs, especially online degrees, have a higher acceptance rate of 44%. This may be an easier route to acceptance if a student already possesses a relevant bachelor's degree. It's also important to note that Georgia Tech does require applicants to submit scores from their college entrance exams. 

The admission requirements differ depending on the program a student is applying for, and the same goes for GPA requirements. For example, computing and engineering students need a 3.3 GPA, while a 3.0 GPA is required for business students. 

The list below outlines all the requirements that students must meet in order to apply for a program at Georgia Tech: 

• Submit an online application through the Common App.
• Pay the $75 application fee. Fee waivers are available to some students. 
• First-year applicants must submit their high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores.
• Graduate applications will be asked for a 1,000-word personal statement in addition to their college transcripts.

When applying to college, students are generally asked to submit an application online rather than mailing in a physical copy. This helps expedite the process. Georgia Tech estimates a two-week waiting period after an online application is submitted.
