Overview
Now a wholly owned subsidiary of Webmedx, Medical Transcription Education Center (MTEC) was founded in 1996 by a team of experienced medical transcriptionists to fulfill the widespread need for a high-quality online medical transcription school. MTEC holds the distinction of being the first school approved by the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs through AHDI (The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) and AHIMA (The American Health Information Management Association). In addition, it is the only school of its kind with a dedicated technology instructor. Through comprehensive yet focused courses, the institution prepares students for productive careers in the dynamic, ever-changing, and challenging medical transcription and editing profession.

Student Appeal
The school's editing and medical transcription program is the most comprehensive curriculum in the industry with over 20 specialties--including foreign accent training. Students receive personalized attention from Certified Medical Transcriptionist instructors who can answer any questions and assist with assignments. The school regularly updates the coursework and adds new courses as the field evolves, thus producing graduates who are highly sought after by the top employers in the industry.

Financial
To help fund enrollees' education, MTEC offers 12-month and 18-month special financing payment plans. Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan is available to qualified students. Military spouses are eligible to receive up to $4000 in CAA (Career Advancement Accounts) funding.     Created to meet the demand for qualified medical content specialists, students of this program undergo beginning, intermediate, and advanced training to prepare them for an exciting career in the healthcare industry. The coursework features study in 20+ medical specialties and includes speech recognition editing, foreign accent training, RMT credentialing exam, as well as a 15-month Associate Membership to AHDI for successful graduates. Students gain a solid core foundation of study to pursue new roles within electronic healthcare documentation environment, from such positions as Medical Transcriptionist and Speech Recognition Editor to Health Data Technologist and Medical Record Analyst.
