Oral Roberts University

ORU is an online school that hosts flexible remote courses in a range of subjects. While most students study on campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, between 17% and 30% of students study exclusively online, according to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).  

ORU is an accredited online school. Its degrees are legitimate because a third-party agency has evaluated them to ensure quality education. ORU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

ORU considers itself a Christian interdenominational university. As of 2015, its most common denominations were Assemblies of God, Pentecostal, Charismatic, and Baptist.

ORU is best known for integrating faith into its higher learning curricula. The school's mission is to develop "Holy Spirit-empowered leaders" by promoting a Christian worldview. General education requirements for online students include eight credit hours of Spirit-Empowered Living and Spirit-Empowered Leadership, as well as additional courses in Biblical studies.  

The highest earning degree at ORU is the online Bachelor of Science in Financial Management. According to College Scorecard, graduates of this program can expect to earn a median annual salary of ~$66,100. The next highest earning degree is in nursing. The most relevant online degree in this field is the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, where the estimated salary for graduates is ~$65,100.
