Pima Community College

Overview
Pima Community College opened its doors to the residents in and around Tucson in 1969, and has continued to improve its offerings and educational opportunities year after year. Currently, the school offers both online and traditional format programs to its students, and graduates either find gainful employment opportunities or are admitted to four-year educational institutions at high rates. In addition to associate's degrees in business, computer technology, education, health, public safety, science, engineering, social science, the humanities, the arts, and communication, the college provides students with the opportunity to study a specific trade and earn certification in a chosen area.

Student Appeal
Students who attend Pima Community College are able to complete their two year degrees at a much lower cost than those students who are attending universities. Once they have completed their associate's degrees, Pima graduates may choose to go on to study at one of the many excellent four-year universities in Arizona. Or, they may immediately begin their careers. Some students find it easier to make the transition to higher education by beginning at Pima Community College, where professors are helpful and there are plenty of educational support systems.

  • GEDGED
    The GED is considered the equivalent of a high school diploma, and it is earned by successfully passing an exam that tests a students' proficiency in math and English. Before taking such an exam, students may opt to complete a GED preparation course at Pima Community College. The length of the program will depend on a specific students' needs and progress. Students may re-enroll in the preparation course, which offers both classroom lessons and individual study assistance.
